Play Therapy , Art Therapy, and interactive family activities are used to foster appropriate expression, self exploration, healing and growth. Play and art can allow children (as well as adolescents and adults) to express themselves more fully. It can help to expose and untangle their emotional landscape and behavioral patterns in order to help them process and make sense of their lives. The following video describes what Play Therapy is and why it works:

I specialize in working with children and teens ages 2-18. I provide highly effective, research based counseling in a warm and inviting environment. I offer practical strategies and activities to help children and families meet their goals and improve their lives. As a parent, I understand the worries and frustrations often associated with the enormous job of parenting. Parent participation is encouraged as this can result in better long term outcomes.
I also supervise child and family counselor's with Master's Degrees who are working toward earning their hours to become fully licensed clinician's. Please scroll down to the Registered Interns section below for more info on them.
Much of my work has included providing counseling services to families living with difficult life circumstances including domestic violence, divorce, drug use, and child abuse and neglect. Despite these challenges, many of these families were able to open their hearts, roll up their sleeves, and make monumental life changes.
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a program designed to address defiance in children by strengthening the parent-child relationship and giving parents research based parenting strategies that help children follow directions. The following video depicts how PCIT helped save the parent-child relationship for a very high risk family:
